Call for strengthening community clinic management committees

RANGPUR: Strengthening capacity of the community clinic managing committees (CCMCs) could ensure better health and medicare services to common people, rural mothers, pregnant women, adolescents and children, reports BSS.

The opinion came at inaugural ceremony of a four-day capacity enhancement training workshop arranged for community groups involved with management of community clinics at Upazila Parisahd hall room in Tentulia upazila town of Panchagarh on Monday.

Tentulia upazila administration has been organising the workshop under the Upazila Governance and Development Project of the Local Government Division with financial assistance Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Members of the CCMCs, Community Health Care Providers (CHCPs) and Community Skilled Birth Attendants (CSBAs) of 14 community clinics, union health assistants and volunteers of Tentulia upazila are taking part in the workshop.

Residential Medical Officer at Tentulia Upazila Health Complex Dr Suman Chandra Roy has been coordinating the workshop while health experts have been conducting the workshop as resource persons.

Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Amal Krishna Mandal attended the event as the chief guest with Tentulia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saniul Ferdous in the chair.

Tentulia Upazila Chairman Rezaul Karim Shahin, its Vice-chairman Sultana Razia, General Secretary of Tentulia upazila Awami League Mokhlesur Rahman and upazila JASOD President Zahidul Islam, addressed, among others.

UNO Saniul Ferdous narrated importance of community clinics in reaching health and medicare services to the common people at their doorsteps and tremendous successes already achieved toward the direction.

He also discussed about the epoch-making community clinic approach, responsibility of the CCMCs, CHCPs and CSBAs, health assistants and other people involved with providing health services to common people.

Upazila Chairman Rezaul Karim Shahin put emphasis on improving managements in community clinics for providing essential health services to rural people and ensure safe pregnancy, safe delivery and maternity to prevent maternal and neonatal deaths.

The chief guest called upon the CCMCs, CHCPs, CSBAs and all concerned for ensuring primary health, medicare, family planning, safe delivery and nutrition services to rural people for attaining the sustainable development goals,” he said.
