JnU students
assault cop for stopping buses

Students of Jagannath University (JnU) assaulted a police sergeant yesterday for stopping JnU buses near Banglamotor in the capital, which were being driven on the wrong side of the road. The attacked police sergeant was identified as Kaiser Hamid. A witness said three double-decker buses of JnU tried to move towards Sonargaon crossing from Banglamotor on the wrong side yesterday afternoon after getting stuck in traffic. Some students were directing the buses on the wrong side. As the policeman asked them not to direct the buses to move on the wrong side, the students got into an altercation with the traffic sergeant and some students assaulted him.

Assistant commissioner of DMP Traffic (Ramna Zone) Alauddin told reporters that on-duty police sergeant Kaiser intercepted two buses which attempted to drive on the wrong side near Banglamotor. “But a group of students of the university locked into a brawl with the police officer. The buses, however, were sent to the right directions later,” he added.
