After the success of the first edition of ‘Bengali Film Festival of Dallas’, Srijoner Hut is going to organise its second edition, which will be held from July 28 to 30 this year at Angelika Film Center-Plano in Texas, USA. In the second edition of the festival, four feature films and four short films will participate; among those two feature films and two short films are from Bangladesh.
The Bangladeshi feature films are Morshedul Islam-directed ‘Anil Bagchir Ekdin’—a film based on a novel by late celebrated writer Humayun Ahmed, and Imtiaz Ahmed Bijon’s film ‘Matir Projar Deshe’ (Kingdom of Clay Subjects).
Two other feature films are- Indian film ‘Naikar Bhumikay’ directed by Swagato Chowdhury and ‘Tope’ directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta.
On the other hand, Bangladeshi short films ‘Kobi Swamir Mrityur Por Amar Jobanbondi’, written and directed by Tasmiah Afrin Mou, Khandakar Sumon’s short film ‘Pounopunik’ and Nazmus Sakib Himel’s ‘Faanki’ will participate in the short film category, while ‘Dolachal’ directed by Reecheta Das will participate from India.
To note, Srijoner Hut, a Bengali film festival of Dallas, is fusing the spirit of the Bengal and combining it with an award winning selection of Bengali films from every walk of life. The celebration of Bengali film would bring together the Bengali community with a sole focus on the Bengali film from both Bengal (Bangladesh & West Bengal) Europe and North America, A Brand New movement in the USA.
