Eminent music composer-director Abdul Ahad was remembered through a commemorative programme at the Dance and Music Centre auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital on Sunday.
Under the initiative of BSA, the event was managed by Music, Dance and Recitation Department and supported by Mahmuda Khatun Siddika and Abdul Ahad and Hamida Khanom Smrity Parishad.
The programme featured discussion and music rendition. Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, poet-lyricist Rafiquzzaman attended as a main discussant in the discussion part. Mahmuda Khatun Siddika and general secretary of Abdul Ahad and Hamida Khanom Smrity Parishad Nishat Jahan Rana delivered welcome speech.
After the discussion, Fahim Hossain rendered Rabindra Sangeet ‘Jibon Moroner Simana Chharaye’ and ‘Aguner Porosh Moni’, while singer Roquaiya Hasina rendered ‘Ami Rupe Tomay Bholabona’ and ‘Amar ei Poth Chauatei Ananda’.
Besides, singer Jharna Rahman, Arifur Rahman Timun and Nashid Kamal rendered the popular songs of composer Abdul Ahad such as ‘Amar Ar Kichu Thak-ba Na Thak’, ‘Vromorer Pakhna jotodure Jakna’, ‘Duti Chokhe Chokh Rekhe’, ‘Tai Tomar Ananda Amar Por’, Amar-o Desher Matir-o Gondhe’, Ami Sagore Neel Noyone Mekhechhi’, Onek Bristy Jhore Tmi Ele’ and Haater Kakon Felechho Khule’.
