Icarus organised a multidimensional art showcase named “Beacons 2.0” from July 24 to 28 at the Drik Gallery, Dhanmondi in the capital, says a press release.
The event was comprised of a unique exhibition of art and illustration, with light-and-shadow art and a gigantic comic/manga showcase with original artwork by young Bangladeshi artists.
Syed Margub Morshed, former information secretary and former BTRC chairman, Ahsan Habib, chief editor of the cartoon magazine Unmad, Masako Saito of the Embassy of Japan, and Mashuk Helal of the daily Prothom Alo attended the function as the special guests.
The showcase featured original art on character/plot making, graphic novel corner by Navid F. Rahman, 3D art, graffiti, on-the-spot sketching by “We Draw Stuff”, artwork by young talents as gifts/ souvenirs for visitors.
The objectives of the multidimensional art showcase was to create a platform for young story-makers/comic book artists/manga artists to materialize their imaginations/visions, using traditional media (pen, pencil and paper), digital media, etc, also to encourage Bangladeshi artists to create new, unique stories and characters for people to associate with and remember.
