Myanmar exported over 22,000 tonnes of white rice and parboiled rice mainly to Europe, Asia and Africa in the last week of June, official media reported yesterday.
The country earned 6.5 million US dollars from the export to these countries through sea-borne trade during the period, reports Xinhua.
Myanmar exports a variety of Emata rice, Ngasein rice, sticky rice, parboiled rice and broken rice to foreign countries including member states of the European Union (EU), South Africa and China.
The country exported a total of 700,000 tonnes of rice as of June in fiscal year 2017-2018.
In last fiscal year (2016-2017), about 1.5 million tonnes of rice were exported to Asian countries, European Union member states and African nations while 50 per cent predominantly went to neighboring China mainly through border gates.
