Detectives rescued an abducted businessman and arrested two people for their alleged involvement in the abduction from Mymensingh town early yesterday, within eight hours of his abduction.
The arrestees were identified as Khorshed Ali, 26, of Dadiar Char in Nakla upazila of Sherpur and Forkan Ali, 24, of village Charpara area in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh.
Faruq Sarker, a rice trader hailing from Nakla in Sherpur came to Mymensingh town’s Charpara area for treatment on Sunday afternoon. Faruq was allegedly abducted by the arrestees from the area around 5pm on Sunday and was confined to a house at town’s Natakghar By-lane area.
The abductors demanded Tk one lakh from Faruq’s family and they paid Tk 30,000 through bKash in the evening, said sources.
Later, the family members informed police around 8.30pm.
On information, a team of Mymensingh Detective Branch (DB) of police raided the Natakghar By-lane area and rescued Faruq from a three-storied house around 1am, said Md Ashiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of DB, Mymensingh.
Police also arrested the two abductors from the spot and recovered Tk 30,000 from their possession.
