Anti-terrorism drive resumes in Gaibandha

Gaibandha: Law enforcers resumed anti-terrorism drive in the remote char areas of Saghata upazila in the district yesterday aiming to prevent subversive activities, reports UNB.

The raid conducted by members of district police, Detective Branch (DB) of police and a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, began around 4:00 am and suspended at 8:00 am for today.

After a day gap on Friday, the joint forces have again started the anti-terrorism drive in the upazila, said Mashrukur Rahman Khalek, superintendent of Gaibandha police, adding that the drive was a part of regular anti-terrorism drive.

During yesterday’s raid, none was detained and nothing was recovered from the scene, he also said.

On Tuesday night, the joint forces launched the drive and raided different chars of the Teesta, Jamuna and Brahmaputra rivers in Fulchari, Sadar, Sundarganj and Saghata upazilas of Gaibandha, Islampur upazila of Jamalpur district, Sariakandi upazila of Bogra district and Chilmari upazila of Kurigram.

Later, the law enforcers suspended their drive on Thursday afternoon.
