AL to stay in power if
people vote: Nasim

Awami League Presidium Member and Health Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday said the party is now in power through peoples’ vote and will stay in power if people vote for it again in the next polls slated for 2019.

“What we can do if people vote for Awami League again and again for the good works of the Sheikh Hasina government,” he said in response to a question that AL has been trying to cling to power by any means.

Nasim, also the coordinator of the AL-led 14-party alliance, made the remarks at a press conference after attending an AL-led 14-party meeting at AL President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office.

The minister also hoped that the way the current government has been working for the welfare of the country’s people, they [people] will definitely vote for Awami League in the upcoming election and AL will form government again.

About the independence of the judiciary, the AL leader said judiciary is now completely independent but BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is spreading falsehood against judiciary.

The AL presidium member, about terrorism and militancy, said the government has become successful in curbing militancy as the people from all walks of life have responded to the call of the AL-led government against militancy after the gruesome attack on Holey Artisan Bakery at Gulshan.

He also called upon all to come forward for strengthening Sheikh Hasina’s hands in a bid to uproot militancy from the country.

Nasim also thanked Hasina government for lessening excise duty on bank deposits and not increasing the burden of taxation on the people.
