Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested two suspected members of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Chowrasta area in Gazipur city early Friday, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Md Mostasim Billah, 21, son of A K M Abdur Rashid, a resident of Tokenagar village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur district, Md Morsalin Sheikh, 25, son of Salek Sheikh, hailed from Chungapasha village in Pirojpur Sadar upazila.
A team of RAB conducted a drive in the area around 1:10 am and arrested them, said senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rabiul, Operation Officer of RAB-2 Battalion headquarters.
The arrestees primarily informed that a group of JMB members numbering 8-10 gathered in Tejgaon Industrial area in the capital on May 31 for creating sabotage. Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted a drive there and arrested its three members - Md Mofizul Islam, Md Rakibul Islam and Md Ilius Ahmed - while other members including Mostasim and Morsalin managed to flee away from the scene.
