Girls ahead in pass rate
The number of Gross Point Average (GPA)-5 holders in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams has increased by 1.4 per cent this year, compared to the previous year. This year, the average pass rate under 10 education boards is 74.70 per cent, 5.10 per cent increase from last year. This is the first time all boards have published marks along with GPA standings. The girl students are ahead of the boys in pass percentage by 1.67, but they are behind in obtaining GPA-5. The pass rate of the girls is 75.60 per cent, and for the boys it is 73.93. In all, 32,381 boys have obtained GPA-5, while for girls the number is 25,865. This year, 58,276 have got GPA-5, and 41,468 (85 per cent) of them are from the science and home economics…
