BB needs 'thorough recasting': Muhith
A day after the resignation of Dr Atiur Rahman as Bangladesh Bank Governor and removal of two Deputy Governors over the recent cyber heist, Finance Minister AMA Muhith yesterday hinted that a “thorough recasting” was needed at the central bank management, as it was not in a “healthy condition”. The finance minister said, “Various systems of Bangladesh Bank require serious reforms, as they are not in a healthy condition.” Muhith was talking to reporters at the secretariat yesterday. The minister, however, did not go into the details of the recasting plan, but hinted that the new Governor, Fazle Kabir, would accomplish the task.
