Bullet-hit body found in Noakhali

A bullet-hit body of a man was recovered from a pond at Karimpur in Chowmohani municipality early yesterday. He has been identified as Kamal Uddin, 24, an auto-rickshaw driver, hailing from Karimpur village in Chowmohani. Family members claimed that Kamal was shot dead by the members of law enforcement agency. At around 11pm on Saturday while Kamal was taking tea at a tea stall a team of police of Chowmohani police camp, led by Sub-inspector Jasim, chased him. Police opened fire on Kamal when he jumped into a pond trying to escape. Family members recovered the bullet-hit body from the pond.  When contacted, SI Jasim denied the allegation.
Additional Superintendent of Police in Noakhali SM Ashrafuzzaman said they are investigating the matter.
