Employees abstain from work in protest

Demanding immediate arrest of the attackers of food department officials at Mymensingh CSD warehouse employees and officials of the department observed a three-hour work abstention from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm as part of their countrywide programme yesterday.
At a rally held in the town, the agitated employees also gave an ultimatum to the authorities concerned to arrest the attackers within seven days.
Earlier in the afternoon, they brought out a silent procession in the town and submitted a memorandum to the prime minister through deputy commissioner of Mymensingh demanding immediate arrest of the attackers. Local Sramik League leader Anwar Hossain and his men assaulted Mohammad Alauddin, upazila food controller (Technical) at Mymensingh CSD godown, when he went there to check the standard of rice on Tuesday afternoon.
