30 Jamaat-Shibir men arrested

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Police arrested 30 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chattra Shibir from Arambag area in Chapainawabganj town as they were holding a secret meeting on Wednesday evening, reports BSS. Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chapainawabganj T M Mojahidul Islam said, acting on secret information that a group of Jamaat-Shibir men were holding a secret meeting in an office of a multi level marketing (MLM) company named ‘Apanjan,’ at Arambag in the town. A team of police of Detective Branch (DB) raided the office before Iftar time and arrested them. Police also recovered laptops, about 250 to 300 video clips and a lot of jihadi books from their possession, he added. A case was recorded with Chapainawabganj sadar model thana in this connection last night.
Police further said that after primary interrogation and from the video clips it was confirmed that they were the leaders and activists of Jamaat-Shibir in guise of MLM Company.
These people were organizing madrasha students for involving them in Jamaat’s militant activities, police said.
