State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said the former enclave dwellers will be covered by electricity soon, says a press release.
All the people in the 111 enclaves will get electricity as soon as possible, the minister said while speaking at a conference with REB's General Managers in the capital on Saturday.
Rural Electrification Board (REB), a non profitable power service provider organisation holds the GM level conference in regular interval due to motivating the official.
REB Chairman Brig Gen Moinuddin declared that by 2015-16 the REB Samity will set up 30 thousands more power distribution lines aiming at connecting 30 lakh consumers.
In last five years the REB has installed 34,3487km distribution lines. Already 2,223 villages have been provided electricity through 24 lakh new connection. The organization has a plan to bring 90 per cent of the off-grid area under rural electrification facility by 2021 and more than 0.8 million applicants would be given connections soon.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman A R Khan, Power Development Chairman K M Hasan, Managing Director of Power Grid Company Bangladesh Masum Al Beruni, and general mangers from 77 Samity of REB were present in the conference.
