Experiment with Sabbir as No 3 doesn’t click

Sports Reporter from Birmingham

The experiment with his batting order didn’t go augurs well with Sabbir Rahman as the batsman so far failed to justify the talent he got in the big platform of the cricket.

Sabbir though never complained about his batting position and always iterated that he is okay with what position he gets, actually it was the No. 3 position in which he thrived.
He was successful in that position in the T20 format which inspired the team management to make an experiment giving him the No. 3 position in ODI cricket as well. He wasn’t however so bad or so good at his original position of No. 6 or 7 in ODI cricket but comparatively his performance in No. 3 position was good.
He hit three half-centuries in No. 3 position and gave an indication that he could make a long impact in this position. However as he almost makes him successful in this position, the team management decided him to bring back in the No. 6 position because of Imrul Kayes who showed some brilliant performance to claim his spot in the national team.
Kayes failed to grab the chance with both hands in No. 3 position which meant he was dropped and Sabbir is back to the position. But batting in two different positions at the same tournament was too much for the young guy which is believed to cause his dismal performance.
In four matches of the tournament so far, he made just 59, not quite well for a batsman who got immense talent to be the future prospect of Bangladesh.
This hard-hitting batsman played so far 42 one-day internationals for Bangladesh after making his international debut in 2014. He though scored 891 runs but yet to clatter any century. His one-day best was 65.
Before one-day cricket, Sabbir strode his footsteps into international arena with Twenty20. He made 721 runs off 31 with the best figure of 80.
After two-year lull, the 25-year-old debuted in Test against England in October 2017 at home yard.
