The broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) crossed 4800-point mark again when the trading began in bullish mood and maintained the trend to the end of the session, reports BSS.
DSEX finished the day 9.71 points higher at 4802.02, with the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES ended the day positive at 1885.90 and 1192.71 respectively.
Market analysts attributed the marginal recovery to higher activities on the market fuelled by some positive earnings news that came to the bourse during trading hours. The daily trade value was 28.05 per cent up to Tk 806.53 crore when the trade volume went up by 19.78 per cent to 19.46 crore shares.
The higher activities also resulted in price rise in 129 securities though the number of losing issues were 148 as selling pressure mounted during the later part of the session.
Investors were mostly active around securities of multinational, pharmaceuticals and construction companies when bank, pharmaceuticals, textile and engineering were the major gaining sectors. Cement, NBFI and telecom sectors were down because of their slack demands against higher selling.
The day's top five advancing issues were 1stICB, BD Welding, Islami Bank, National Polymer and Gemeni Sea food when the major lagging issues were Meghna Life, ISN Limited, PLFSL, Phoenix finance and Standard Insurance.
