Tripartite MoU signed to improve mathematics education in country
A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among Bangladesh Mathematical Society, BacBon Ltd and CASIO, Japan was signed today at Dhaka University (DU) treasurer's office to promote mathematics education in the country.
Bangladesh Mathematical Society President Professor Dr Sajeda Banu, BacBon Ltd Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdul Matin Sheikh and CASIO Representative Kaito Miwa signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides, said a DU press release in the capital.
DU Treasurer Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin, Mathematics Department Chairman Professor Dr Amulya Chandra Mandal, Bangladesh Mathematical Society Secretary Professor Dr Md Shahidul Islam and some other teachers were present on the occasion.
According to the MoU, Bangladesh Mathematical Society, BacBon Ltd and CASIO will undertake joint programmes for development of mathematics education in secondary and higher secondary level education in Bangladesh with the financial support from CASIO Company of Japan. They will work together to improve skills and teaching ability of the teachers to teach mathematics in all districts of the country. They will arrange workshops, training programmes and conferences on mathematics. DU Mathematics Department as well as Bangladesh Mathematical Society will provide support and cooperation in this regard.
This project will continue from 2017 to 2020, the release added.

Discussion on “Significance of Ramadan and Iftar Mahfil” held at NUB
On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Northern University Bangladesh organized an Iftar Mahfil and a discussion on the importance of the sacred month on its premises recently, says a press release. 
Prof Dr Anwar Hossain, Vice-chancellor, Northern University Bangladesh presided over the programme where Prof Dr AYM Abdullah, the Chairman of Northern University Bangladesh Trust, was present as the chief guest.
The Pro-VC of NUB Prof Dr Anwarul Karim and Treasurer Md Anwar Hussain were present as special guests on the occasion. Md Ansar Ali, Chairman of Northern University of Business and Technology Khulna Trust, was present as the guest of honor.
Speakers on the occasion elaborated on the blessings and manifold bounties granted by the Almighty in the holy month of Ramadan. The speakers stressed on implementing the spirit of Ramadan through patience, perseverance and self-restraint in our daily lives.  
     Registrar Md Rashidul Islam, the Director of Development and International Affairs Lt. Col. (Retd.) Aqtedar Ahmed Siddiqui, members of Northern University Bangladesh Trust, faculty members and corporate office staff were also present at the convivial event.
