Stock markets extended loss to maintain falling trend for the fourth straight day of the week yesterday due to lower participation, reports BSS.
The border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 5.06 points down at 5,450.12. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 1.92 points down at 1262.06 and with 7.56 points down at 2024.72.
The day's trade value at DSE declined to Tk 370.31 crore from Sunday's Tk 469.01 crore and the daily trade also fell to 10.65 crore shares from 12.60 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day's 327 securities, prices of 103 securities closed higher against 157 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Rupali Bank, Jamuna Bank, Asia Pacific Insurance, Reliance Insurance and VAMLBDMF1. The major losing companies were SAVAREFR, ICBSONALI1, Standard Insurance, Green Delta Insurance and Sun Life Insurance.
PTL topped the turnover list followed by Ifad Autos, Lanka Bangla Finance, UPGDCL and Beximco Pharma.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 42.03 points down at 16873.17.
At CSE, 224 issues were traded. Of those, 68 closed higher and 108 closed lower when 1.09 crore shares worth Tk 40.25 crore changed hands.
