Speakers in Khulna yesterday underscored the need for boosting investment as well as setting up eco-friendly industries to free the country from the curse of poverty, reports BSS.
The speakers made the observation while addressing a conference titled ‘Private Investment Attraction, Problem and Possibility of Industrialisation’ at a hotel with Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Kazi Md Aminul Islam in the chair.
The BIDA organised the conference with a view to boosting private investment to ensure country’s development and SDGs which is a must for Bangladesh to become a middle-income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041. Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Abdus Samad addressed the conference as the chief guest.
Executive Member of BIDA Navash Chandra Mondal and Senior Vice-President of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Sharif Atiar Rahman addressed the event as special guests.
Head of Economic Discipline and Dean of Social Science School of Khulna University (KU) Professor Dr Shahnewaz Nazimuddin Ahmed presented the keynote paper while Head of Rural and Urban Development Discipline of KU Professor Dr Sheikh Md Mursalin Mamun and Professor of Business Management Administration (MBA) Discipline Professor Firoz Ahmed addressed the conference as panel discussants.
Director of BIDA, Khulna division Niranjan Kumar Mondal delivered the welcome speech.
