The government has decided to appoint Md. Zulfiqur Rahman as the next ambassador to the South American country of Brazil. He will replace Mijarul Quayes, who passed away in Brazil on March 11.
A career diplomat of the 9th BCS (Foreign Affairs), Zulfiqur Rahman joined the foreign service in 1991 and is currently serving as the ambassador to South Korea. In his distinguished diplomatic career, he served as the ambassador in Turkey, deputy high commissioner in India, minister at Bangladesh permanent mission to United Nations in New York, USA, according to a press release issued by the foreign ministry yesterday.
