Two get life term for violating ethnic woman

A Chapainawabganj court yesterday sentenced two persons to life term imprisonment and fined them Tk1,50,000 each for kidnapping and raping an ethnic woman. Additional District and Session Judge and also the Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Ziaur Rahman handeddown the punishment yesterday afternoon in presence of the convicts.
The convicted persons are identified as Ariful Islam, 30, son of Delshad of Atahar village and Ziaur, 32, son of Mostofa of Atahar Andhanidanga village in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila.
According to the prosecution, the convicted persons kidnapped the ethnic woman, from her house at Atahar Jugidaing village on November 29, 2014 at around 11.30 pm. After taking her to a mango orchard they raped her. On the following day the victim filed a case against the duo with Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station. Later, Investigation Officer Jahangir Alam submitted chargesheet on March 22, 2015. After examining records and witnesses, Additional District and Session Judge Ziaur Rahman pronounced the punishment.
