SIRAJGANJ: Awami League Presidium Member Mohammad Nasim yesterday said AL government is not afraid of BNP's movement threats as it (AL) is the party of common people, reports BSS. "Awami League is not afraid of any threat of movement at all," he told journalists after inaugurating 'Model Pharmacy' in his electoral areas at Kazipur in Siranganj.
Referring to the past anti-government agitation programmes of BNP, the health minister said the country earlier experienced arson attacks and killing of many innocent people in the name of their (BNP's) movements and they are not scared of those terrorist activities.
There is no alternative to elections for changover in state-power, he said, urging all registered political parties to take preparation for the upcoming general election.
Nasim reiterated that the next polls would be held as per the constitution under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The health minister said the owners of the model pharmacies will not sell any medicine without prescriptions of registered physicians and counterfeit drugs.
Director General of Drug Administration Department Major General M Mostafizur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Sirajganj district Quamrunnahar Siddiqua, Civil Surgeon Sheikh M Manzur Rahman and Additional Police Super Shahinur Allam Khan were, among others, was present.
Later, the minister visited the house of late Altab Hossain, former joint general secretary of Sirajganj district AL, who died recently.
He stayed there for some time and expressed sympathy for the bereaved family members.
