U-19 Tri-Nation series in India looks uncertain

Sports Reporter

An uncertainty surrounding the tri-nation series for the under-19 cricket teams has been arisen owing to the lackadaisical attitude of the host country’s organisers.
The series involving Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the hosts India is scheduled to kickstart from the last week of June and will end in the first week of July.
Even though two weeks left for the tournament, the fixture and itinerary of the 50-over tournament has not been prepared yet.
As a part of preparation for the next ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took the initiative to host a tri-nation series for the youth teams of Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
The next World Cup for the youths is slated to take place in New Zealand in between January and February in 2018. A total of 16 teams will take part in the 48-match showpiece event. It is learnt from the BCB insiders that they could not get response from their BCCI counterparts to arrange the tournament.
“It was scheduled to inform us in the aftermath of the concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). The ICC Champions Trophy is going on after the IPL but we are not aware of the tournament it will be finally happened or not,” an insider said.  Bangladesh meanwhile appointed Australian coach Damien Wright for their Under-19 cricket team. The youth Tigers will launch their World Cup campaign with the tri-nation series.
