The mild heat wave continued yesterday, but an overcast sky with scattered rain in different parts of the city did not let the mercury go up further. Although the weather office measured little rainfall at Agargaon, witnesses reported thundershowers at Motijheel and Tejgaon. This kept the afternoon's maximum temperature in the city at a tolerable 33.9 degrees Celsius. However, the day’s highest temperature recorded was 37.4 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur, followed by 37.2C in Rajshahi, with the city sizzling under a mild heat wave.
The weather office forecast for the next 24 hours, beginning at 6pm on Friday, said the mild heat wave sweeping across Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Maijdi Court, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Sayedpur may abate. The day temperatures may fall by 1–2 degrees Celsius today, as there are chances of some rain. A low formed in the west central Bay of Bengal yesterday afternoon. It may develop into a depression that may spur the south-west monsoon lying mostly inactive over the country to burst into rains.
