Barisal board changes results of 209 SSC examinees

The results of 209 SSC examinees under the Barisal Education Board (BEB) this year have been changed after re-scrutiny. BEB chairman Prof. M Ziaul Haque said the results of the re-scrutiny have been published this morning and sent to all concerned. The central computer section of the inter-board authority has been requested to post the results of the re-scrutiny of BEB SSC 2017 on the main website of www.educationboard.gov.bd, the BEB chairman announced. BEB secretary Biplab Kumar Vartacgargee said after re-scrutiny of the examination papers of 9,731 applicants, the results of 209 candidates have been changed. Of those 209 candidates, 23 failed examines were declared to have passed, 21 more received GPA-5, and the grades of 165 examinees who had passed were also changed and improved.
With the rise of 21 GPA-5 holders after re-scrutiny, the number of GPA-5 holder examines in SSC 2017 of BEB stands at 2,309 after re-examination of the answer papers, he said. The BEB’s secretary of examinations said the board authorities have ordered action against the examiners and head examiners responsible for their negligence in the scrutiny of the examination papers. Meanwhile, breaking all previous records, some 11,000 SSC examinees applied for re-counting 23,396 SSC examination papers of 24 subjects this year. BEB appointed a total of 160 new examiners for re-counting the papers.  Last year, 10,333 examines applied for re-counting a total of 22,840 papers of various subjects. This year BEB earned Tk. 35.09 lakh as the fees for the re-counting. BEB fixed a fee of Tk. 150 for the paper of each subject.
BEB sources said that highest number of 4,686 examinees applied this year for the examination of Mathematics papers. The lowest number, two, applied for the re-examination of Christian Religion papers. BEB received 1,330 applications for re-counting Bangla first paper, 1,346 for Bangla second paper, 1,116 for English first paper, 1,119 for English second paper, 1,317 for Islam Education subject, 133 for Hindu Religious, 492 for geography, 265 for Higher Mathematics, 529 for General Science, 521 for Agriculture Education, 1,870 for physics, 1,107 for Biology, 1,702 for Chemistry, 250 for Pouranity, 99 for Economics, 756 for Business Initiative, 157 for Accounting, 1,527 for Physical Education, 1,581 for Bangladesh and World Identity, 42 for Domestic Science, 696 for Finance and Banking, and 753 applied for re-examining History of Bangladesh and Civilization subject.
