New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson might have been in a great form but Bangladesh considered opener Martin Guptill as their main threat given his ability to take away the match with fluent batting.
However Williamson also has been a great form and will again be the man to watch out for in the New Zealand ranks. Williamson made a brilliant hundred against Australia before following up with a classy 97 against England — a match where he was fined but not banned for a dreadfully slow over-rate.
“Williamson has been in great form and could cause damage if he gets going. But I think Guptill is threatening for us because of his ability to pick up runs in excellent pace,” Bangladesh captain Mashrafe said. “If he could get going, he could take the score past 350 plus what is a concern for us. Williamson is in great from but I don’t think he could be as fluent as Guptill.”
But Mashrafe showered praise on his opposite number also.
“The approach have to be -- definitely bowlers have a plan with the coaching staff. So we have to stick on it, and the form he's (Willaimson) going, it was unbelievable. And also if you look on our side, I think Tamim is in great form. It doesn’t mean that Tamim will come in to score tomorrow, as well. So you never know what's going on.” “But yes, he is in great form but we cannot focus only in on Williamson. They have some players like Guptill who can change the game. So we have to think all of them, the batters as a bowling group, and obviously our batters have to think about their batting group.”
