DU signs MoU with Qatar Airways
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) and Qatar Airways was signed at VC's lounge of the university on Wednesday.
Treasurer of DU Prof. Kamal Uddin and Sales Manager of Qatar Airways Bakhshi Mohd Tayab signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides, said a statement.
Vice-chancellor of DU Prof. Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof. Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam and some other faculty members were, among others, present on this occasion. According to the MoU, Qatar Airways will give discounts in air ticket to DU faculty members, staff and their spouse & children for their travelling Dhaka-Qatar route, Meddle East and all European, African & American destinations.
Md Iftekhar Haider made treasurer of IUB
Khandker Md. Iftekhar Haider has been appointed treasurer of the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) for a period of four years, says a press release.
Haider was a secretary to the government of Bangladesh. Before his retirement from government service he worked as the secretary to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
He joined the civil service of Bangladesh in the year 1983 as a member of BCS administrative cadre and held important positions both in secretariat and field administration.
Seminar on ‘Regression Analysis’ begins at IU
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY: A two day-seminar titled “Regression Analysis and Environmental Statistics” began at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Monday.
Statistics department of the university organised the seminar recalling late Professor of Rajshahi University (RU) Statistics Department Mohammad Nasser. IU vice chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest while Prof Dr A H M Rahmatullah of Ball State University in USA delivered the keynote speech.
IU treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha, former pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr M Kamal Uddin were present as special guests. M Altaf Hossain, chairman of the department, presided over the seminar where more than 200 teachers and students of the department were took part at the seminar.
Orientation programmes held at EU
The orientation ceremony for the students of undergraduate programmes of the summer semester of Eastern University (EU) was held on Thursday in the University Seminar Hall, says a press release. Md Azizul Islam, chairman, Board of Trustees of EU & Chairman, Alif Group graced the occasion as the chief guest. Masrur Arefin, additional managing director & chief communications officer, City Bank Limited was present as the guest of honour while Prof Dr Abdur Rab, Vice -Chancellor of EU presided over the programme.
Among others Abul Khair Chowdhury, former Chairman, BoT, EU; Eng. Khandaker Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, member, BoT, EU; Md. Ali Azzam, Member, BoT, EU; Abul Basher Khan, Registrar, EU; Deans; Adviser; chairpersons; members of alumni; teachers and officials of EU were also spoke on the occasion. The chief guest congratulated the newly admitted students and shared their success stories in the education and corporate sector. Mr. Md. Azizul Islam shared his experience of an orientation in a US university and encouraged the students to put in their best efforts to prepare themselves for successful career.
