KHULNA: The physicians of Khulna division staged a protest rally at Shibbari intersection of the city as part of the central programme of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) to press home their six-point demands, reports UNB.
The six-point demands include establishment of a profession-based ministry, ensuring security at work places and withdrawal of cases filed against their fellows.
The leaders of the association from 10 districts of the division alleged that the government’s negative attitude towards health services and physicians is instigating attacks on them and raising the incidents of filing lawsuits and issuing arrest warrants against them and vandalising hospitals.
The leaders of the association also warned to announce tougher programmes if their demands are not met immediately.
BMA vice-president Sheikh Baharul Alam presided over the rally while its general secretary of Khulna unit Mehedi Newaj, acting general secretary Bangakamal Basu, civil surgeon Abdur Razzaq, among others, spoke at the programme.
