The Anti-Corruption Commission has initiated a probe against an assistant commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for allegedly taking his job showing a fake freedom fighter’s certificate and swindling money from a commercial bank.
The Commission at its recent meeting decided to launch the probe against assistant commissioner of taxes Alauddin Ahmed, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
The ACC received a specific graft allegation against Alauddin Ahmed on February 28 last and the Commission recently decided to conduct a probe into it after a primary investigation.
According to the graft allegation, Alauddin joined Dhaka Bank Limited in 2002 as a junior officer and he plundered huge money from the bank when he was in its Karwan Bazar, Banani and Ashulia branches. And then, Alauddin was sacked from his job.
Later, in 2010, a case was filed against him with Ashulia Police Station for allegedly swindling Tk 1.72 lakh from the bank.
When his age of entering a public job expired, he took the job of assistant commissioner of taxes in ‘freedom fighter quota’ after joining the 30th BCS tests showing a fake freedom fighter’s certificate of his father Ansar Uddin.
Ansar Ali was not a freedom fighter at all, according to the allegation.
