3 killed over land dispute in 2 dists

Three people were killed over land dispute in Mymensingh and Dinajpur districts yesterday. In Mymensingh, two people were killed and four others injured in a clash between two groups of rivals over land at village Bojoypur in Muktagachha upazila of Mymensingh yesterday morning.
The victims are Nazrul Islam, 45, and Moyez Uddin, 44, of village Bojoypur. Quoting local people, Akhter Morshed, officer-in-charge of Muktagacha police station said there was a long standing feud between Nazrul Islam and his cousin Moyez Uddin over a piece of land. Yesterday when Nazrul went to the disputed land to build a house around 4am, Moyez and his men reached the spot and locked in an altercation with Nazrul. At one stage, both groups locked in a clash with sticks and sharp weapons, leaving six people of both groups injured.
The injured were first taken to Muktagacha Upazila Health Complex but were shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where Nazrul and Moyez succumbed to their injuries around 11am.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to MMCH morgue for autopsy. Police detained two people for their alleged involvement in the clash. The arrestees are Reazul Karim, 30, and Saiful Islam, 26.
No case was lodged until filing of this report. In Dinajpur, a man was killed and three others were injured in a clash between the two rival groups over land disputes in Parbatipur upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
The victim was identified as Mukul Hussain, 30, hailed from Maheshpur village of the upazila. Officer-in-Charge of Parbatipur Thana Mustak Ahmed confirmed the incident of murder and a case was filed with Parbatipur Model Thana. Police arrested one person in this connection. Injured persons were admitted to Parbatipur Upazila Health Complex.
