China section of Kunming-Bangkok Highway upgraded to expressway

On May 29, the last single tunnel expansion project of the Xiaomengyang-Mohan Expressway was completed. The road is an section of the Kunming-Bangkok Highway. The completion of the tunnel marks the successful upgrade of China section of Kunming-Bangkok Highway to expressway. It is reported that Xiaomengyang-Mohan Expressway  is expected to open to traffic by the end of this year.

The 3,385-metre tunnel passes through extremely complex geological formations, and its construction was the most difficult among all 33 tunnels included in the whole project. With 20 months of hard work, it was finally completed. Right now, landscape engineering and other affiliated works are undergoing.
