Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) finally completed the papers works of one-year agreement with the Andrew Ord, the newly appointed Bangladesh national football team’s coach yesterday, who arrived Dhaka Sunday night to join in his job.
Kazi Nabil Ahmed, the chairman of the National Team Committee, stated this at press conference after the signing ceremony with Andrew Ord that they appointed the coach for one year with the condition that he would not resign before six months or BFF will also not sack him within six months but after a year both sides can renew their contract.
The coach will draw US Dollars 12,000 as his monthly salary including all the facilities and he would enjoy 30 days leave in a year but would not leave team ahead one month of any assignment. However, Andrew will work with the Under-23 and Under-19 national sides, as right now Bangladesh national team have no competition.
Coach when talking in the press conference and replying to queries from the reporters, specially, how do you think to get rid from the 193 ranking.
Andrew said, “I believe in myself. Bangladesh is a big country. It has to be 23 good players here. I don’t believe they should be 193 in the world. We have to work hard to find them and create some young players with some training and with some supports from the federation.” “Working hard in the training ground is the only way. There is no other secret. I am not a wizard. I don’t have magic. I can’t make things happen out of nothing.”
“We need to find the good players, we need to work with them, give them some confidence and belief. Get them enjoying the game again. We need to make the national team higher level. Everybody has to raise the level,” Andrew revealed the way to get out from the situation.
Andrew, who watched the final match between Abahani and Chittagong Abhani Limited, said that, “I saw the game last night. There were some good players. We need to find the best players out of there. We want to improve. We want to help the country climb out of this position. I’m sure we will climb to ranking because there is no way we should be 193 in the world.”
“I can watch almost every match and see the players, I like and then the stuffs to make a new team. The job is same. You got to coach the team, assist the players. The way to play in Bangladesh is not like the way in England or USA or Brazil.”
The English born Australian replying to another query said, “I was in the game in Perth. I think we have leave the past behind. It’s not the good time everybody knows that. We need to create new positive environment. You have been good in the past nut in the recent past not being good.”
“We have to look at new future. Find the best 23 players, regenerate the team, see who can be good. Give them opportunity who can play in the friendly games so they can be part of full national team,” said, Andrew, currently coach of Perth Glory team of A League.
