Bangladeshi honoured in Australia

Dr Shahjahan Khan, a Bangladesh-origin community leader in the Australian city of Toowoomba, has got formal recognition for promoting peace in the Muslim community, reports BSS.
“Toowoomba Islamic leader Dr Shahjahan Khan has been formally recognised for his work in promoting peace in the community,” said a report published today (June 7) in The Chronicle, a regional newspaper in Australia.
Dr Khan, the founding president of the Toowoomba Islamic Society, was presented with an award on Monday night by Queensland Commissioner of Police Ian Stewart, the report added.
According to the report, Dr Khan was honoured for his long-term contribution to maintaining and improving relations between the Muslim community and the Queensland Police Service.
The award was conferred at the fourth annual iftar-dinner meeting of the Queensland Police Service held in the Greek Club Restaurant in South Brisbane.
