Veteran actors Nayak Raj Razzak from Bangladesh and Ranjit Mallick from Kolkata, two living legends of the two Bengals, have been honoured with the lifetime achievement award on the same stage. The duo was bestowed with the lifetime achievement award at the 16th edition of the prestigious ‘Tele-Cine Award 2017’ at the Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata on Sunday. Organised by Kolkata-based Tele-Cine Society (TCS), in association with Dhruba Music Station from Bangladesh, Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Minister of West Bengal Shashi Panja handed over the awards to Razzak and Ranjit Mallick at the Sunday’s ceremony.
Razzak expressed his immediate reaction after receiving the award, “Many thanks to all, who have honoured me on the soil of Kolkata today. I am intensely touched for honouring me with the lifetime achievement award at my birthplace. This is definitely a grand recognition for me to get such an honour at my birthplace. I have already received the highest honour from Bangladesh as well as I received the love of millions of people of Bangladesh. I also acted in a few films of Kolkata on different occasions. As a result, I know many of the artistes of Kolkata too. I am sincerely grateful to the Tele-Cine Society and Dhruba Music Station.”
Ranjit Mallick said, “I am meeting Nayak Raj after a long time on this stage. I am feeling amazing to see him here. All my life I have worked for the film, and now I am feeling really wonderful to get the lifetime achievement award in recognition of my work. Those who have honoured me, I am affably grateful to them.”
Alongside Razzak, other recipients of the Tele-Cine Award from Bangladesh are Ayub Bachchu, Shakib Khan, Habib Wahid, Kona, Nusraat Faria and Chanchal Chowdhury. Besides, Amitabh Reza-directed film ‘Aynabaji’ won the award in the Best Film category. l
