4 remanded over Rupganj arms haul

NARAYANGANJ: A court here on Sunday placed four accused on eight-day remand in a case filed in connection with the recovery of huge arms and ammunition from Rupganj in Narayanganj, reports UNB.
Narayanganj Judicial Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order after Md Sohel Alam, inspector of court police produced them before the court seeking 10-day remand.
The remanded accused are- Sharif, 35, of Bagela village, Shahin alias Sanu, 30, of Gobindapur village, Rasel, 23, of Majhpara village and Santo, 18, of Gutiabo village of Rupganj upazila.
Earlier, Mahmudul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of police filed a case under Arms and Explosive Substances Act with Rupganj Police Station against six people. Police on Friday recovered two rocket launchers, 61 Chinese sub-machine guns, 44 magazines, 42 handmade grenades, five pistols, huge timers, bullets and explosives from a lake with the help of fire service men from Purbachal area of Rupganj in Narayanganj.
