Tamim still believes he takes a clean catch

Sports Reporter from The Oval, London

One catch could turn the match—that’s the familiar quote used in the game of cricket. There were still many ifs and buts with the catch of England captain Eoin Morgan which Tamim claimed to have taken cleanly. Morgan hammered a 61 ball-75 and shared an undefeated 143-run with Joe Root to script Bangladesh’s big defeat.
But he could have been out on 22, should umpires gave it out. And the match should tilt in Bangladesh’s favour with the English side during that period required seven run an over.
“It could have been very different story should the out is given. I don’t think they could win it at such ease if Morgan was given out. During that period, they required seven runs per over. So it could have been close contest. But it’s umpire decision and they think the catch wasn’t taken cleanly,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
Tamim was confident that he took the catch cleanly, said Mashrafe, adding that since the player was confident, the third umpire took some times to review it.
“Tamim is still confident that he took the catch cleanly. He couldn’t believe when third umpire rules it out. I think third umpire should take time and seeing the catch up close via video before giving the final verdict. However it’s umpire decision, so we haven’t have any say on it.”
The soft signal was however not out and that’s why the third umpire didn’t take much time.
As Morgan offered a catch, Tamim sprinted from the long-on and dived in front to take the catch superbly. But when on-field umpire Sundaram Ravi gave the soft signal not out, Tamim looked surprised. He came to umpire and talked to him. Later when third umpire upheld the decision of on field umpire, Tamim was in disbelief.
