The south-western monsoon reached Mymensingh, eastern Dhaka and Barisal Division yesterday, after landing at Chittagong and Sylhet divisions on Thursday. It is expected to spread over entire Bangladesh by June 9-10, the Met Office said yesterday. As it moved inland on Thursday, there was 108mm of rainfall at Nikli in Kishoreganj, adjacent to Sylhet, 185mm at Feni and 112mm in Chittagong. This was in keeping with what meteorologist and researcher, Abul Kalam Mallick, has said. The expert has predicted a normal and good monsoon in Bangladesh. The Met Office has forecast that there would be normal rainfall during the onset of the rainy season in June. It said rainfall will be normal, despite 16.1 per cent less than average showers in May.
