Tk 4.89 lakh realised from 44 business houses in fines

Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) on Wednesday realised Taka 4.89 lakh as fines from 44 business establishments across the country on the charges of different offences, reports BSS. DNCRP in Dhaka city, Gopalganj, Madaripur, Munsiganj, Kishoreganj, Bhola, Jhenaidah, Meherpur, Sunamganj, Rajshahi and Patuakhali inspected different markets and fined the business establishments, a press release said in the capital yesterday.
In a drive, DNCRP fined Dhanshniri Restaurant Taka 80,000, Mama Hotel and Restaurant Taka 20,000, Ana Sagar Restaurant Taka 20,000 Halvesia Fast Food and Coffee House Taka 100,000 in capital’s Paltan and Matijheel areas for different offences including preparing foods in unhygienic condition and selling products at higher prices.
In another drive, the DNCRP fined Park View Restaurant Taka 36,000, Meena Sweets Taka 30,000, Jaker Dairy Firm Taka 30,000 and Dhakaiya Restaurant Taka 10,000 in the city's Muhammadpur and Farmgate areas for selling products without showing maximum retail price (MRP) on the packets and preparing foods in unhygienic conditions.
In other drives, DNCRP fined two business entities Taka 4,000 at Maksudpur Upazila in Gopalganj, five business establishments Taka 7,000 at Madaripur Sadar Upazila, five business entities Taka 4,000 at Tangibari Upazila in Munshigonj, two business establishments Taka 10,000 at Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila for different offences including preparing foods in unhygienic condition and selling products at higher price and without showing MRP. DNCRP also panelized five business establishments Taka 55,000 at Bhola Sadar Upazila, three business entities Taka 15,000 at Harinakundo Upazila in Jhenaidah, two business establishments Taka 14,000 at Meherpur Sadar Upazila, three business establishments taka 6,400 at Sunamgonj Sadar Upazila, one business establishment Taka 4,600 in Rajshahi city and three business entities Taka 24,000 at Galachipa Upazila in Patuakhali.
The DNCRP fined the principal office of Kabab Ghar Taka 1,000, divisional office of Cafeteria Coffee Corner in Dhaka Taka 4,000, Anurag Restaurant Taka 5,000, Ajkerdeal.com Taka 5000 and Chittagong district office of Bananja Port Restaurant Taka 4,000 after holding hearings on various allegations at the directorate.
