Road crashes kill 10 in four districts

Ten people were killed and 32 others injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur, Gaibandha, Bagerhat and Mymensingh districts yesterday, reports UNB.In Dinajpur, three people were killed following a collision between a truck and mini-truck at Vaduria in Nawabganj upazila in the morning.The deceased were identified as Ashik, 26, son of Mintu Miah of Uttar Haripur of Badagachhi upazila in Naogaon district, and Aslam, 35, son of Khorshed Alam and Manik, 40, son of Saiful Alam of the same upazila.Officer-in-charge of Nawabganj Police Station Subrato Kumar Sarker said the accident took place around 8am when the mini truck collided with the truck, leaving two workers of the mini truck dead on spot and four others injured.The injured were taken to Birampur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared another dead.In Gaibandha, three people were killed and two others injured as a cattle-laden truck collided with a cement-laden Rangpur-bound truck on Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Fasitola area of Gobindaganj upazila early in the morning, Mujibar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Highway Police.
The injured were admitted to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex.In Mymensingh, a woman and a child were killed and 25 other bus passengers injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Cheler Ghat area of Trishal upazila in the morning.The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.In Bagerhat, a speeding truck hit a van on the Khulna-Mongla road at Katakhali in Fakirhat upazila around 8am, leaving van passenger Uttar Bairagi, 50, of Betaga village of the upazila, dead on the spot and van puller Faruk Sheikh, 35, injured.Faruk was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Two people were also injured as the truck overturned on the road after hitting a roadside tree at that time.
