Law enforcers recovered seven grenades, three bombs and three suicide vests from a ‘militant den’ in Namagenda area in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital yesterday, reports UNB from Savar. A bomb disposal unit of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) resumed their operation at the suspected militant hideout in a six-storey under-construction building around 10:40 am, said Dhaka district police Superintendent Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman at a press briefing after the end of the drive around 2:30pm. During the operation, they broke into a room on the first floor of the building, owned by banker Shakib, and found seven grenades, three bombs and three suicide vests which were defused later, he said. However, there was no arrest during the drive as two suspected militants, including Monir, managed to flee cutting window grill on the ground floor after getting information of drive in Anwar’s house, 200 yards off Sakib’s building. However, law enforcers found nothing in two other suspected militant dens-one owned by Anwar and another by Halim, in the same area, he said. Police cordoned off two houses in the area suspecting those as militant hideouts on Friday. A team of CTTC unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) along with Dhaka police cordoned off a building, owned by Anwar, around 7:30pm.Later, the CTTC members detained a woman and rescued two children from the ground floor of the house. Bedsides, another team of CTTC unit along with Dhaka police surrounded another building, owned by Shakib, around 9:30pm. They also besieged a cosmetic factory in a building, owned by Halim.
