Police cordon off 2 militant dens in Savar

Police yesterday cordoned off two houses in Genda area of Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, suspecting those as militant hideouts, reports UNB. The law enforcers said they suspect a few militants have been staying in the ground floor of a five-storey building, owned by one Anwar Molla, a local trader.
Police cordoned off the building around 7:30pm, said Ashraful Azim, Additional Superintendent of Police in Dhaka district, adding that they have asked the local people to stay vigilantly.
Bedsides, a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) along with Dhaka police surrounded another building owned by Shakib, a banker, in the same area around 9:30pm, said additional deputy commissioner of the CTTC unit Zahid Hossain.
Meanwhile, the law enforcers found a suicidal vest and bomb making ingredients from a room of the second floor on the under construction six-story building while another room was found locked, he added.
They will conduct further drives in the two suspected militant dens on Saturday morning, added the police official.
