In a bid to defend the title Abahani Limited booked their semifinal berth in the Walton Federation Cup Football tournament yesterday defeating Brothers Union by 2-1 yesterday.  
Abahani will face Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the semifinal on June 2.Held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Nabib Newaz Jibon led Abahani with a late hour of the first half while Rubel Meah doubled the advantage. Cyio Zunapio reduced one for Brothers in the added time.Abahani Limited moved into the semifinal as expected but after wasting at least half a dozen scoring chances they had to remain satisfy with the narrow margin win.   
Nabib Newaz Jibon scored the opener two minutes before the break but the striker leftover two opportunities came to his way earlier stage of the match.
However, Abahani played the match with full dominance from the very beginning and also went closer to take lead in the 15th minute but Jibon could not beat Brothers defender Akramuzzaman  very closely when a Mamun Meah pin-pointed cross fell very nearer to the post.
Jibon again failed to score goal from a good chance when Rubel Meah set him a cross in an open space inside the area on 20th minute.Abahani, despite squeezed the Brothers defense for a long and also went closer but could turned any of the attacks to goal.Finally, Jibon found the net on 43rd minute when Sohel Rana released a through pass at the edge of the area and this time the striker did not miss to send the ball into net (1-0).After the lead Abahani became more desperate to increase the margin and also played in same fashion of offensive strategy and had the first opportunity after the break on 55th minute and this time also Jibon headed the ball over the post very closely when a back header from Nasir came to his way.Abahani just got a great relief when Rubel Meah close range effort went into the top corner of the net after touching Akramuzzaman's leg on 79th minute (2-0).Brothers, who played with counter attack strategy and also broke the defense of Abahani for some times but could not create any open spaces, had a consolation with a goal from Ciyo Zunapio in the injury time (2-1).
