Razzak to get lifetime award in Kolkata

‘Nayak Raj’-famed Razzak, the living legend of the country’s filmdom, will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award in the ‘Tele Cine Awards’ in Kolkata next month. Razzak’s son, Samrat, confirmed the news, saying that Tele Cine Awards organisers had informed the actor’s family about this.
“My father is going to be awarded in Kolkata for the first time. The award ceremony is supposed to be held on June 7. We’ll leave for Kolkata on June 4 to attend the ceremony,” he added.
Razzak’s major breakthrough was in Salahuddin’s “Tero Nombor Feku Ostagar Lane”. He acted in other movies like “Neel Akasher Nichey”, “Maynamati”, “Moner Moto Bou”, “Swaralipi”, “Osru Diye Likha”, “Jibon Theke Neya” and “Obujh Mon”. He has acted in leading roles with many prominent actors including Anwar Hossain, Bulbul Ahmed, Sohel Rana, Ilias Kanchan, Shuchanda, Shabana, Bobita, Kabori, Sujata, Shabnam and others.
He has appeared in a number of films opposite the actress Shabana. He has made more than 300 appearances in Bengali and Urdu movies. He also directed about 16 films.
Besides Dhallywood, Razzak has made acted in Kolkata movies.  He now stays away from acting due to old-age complications. Some other Bangladeshi celebrities, including Shakib Khan, Nusrat Faria, Ayb Bacchu, Habib Wahid and Kona, will also be awarded in the 16th session of Tele Cine awards this time.
