Farzana Chhoby plays unique role in ‘Nadi Kabya’

Women empowerment, struggle and not compromising with evil power of the society—with these much burning issues, a short film titled ‘Nadi Kabya’ is now underway. Promising actress Farzana Chobby, who loves to take challenge of playing unique characters in whether it be a tele-drama or a telefilm or a short film, is playing the central role in this short film. Farzana Chhoby said about her role in ‘Nadi Kabya’, “I always love to play challenging characters. I love to play the characters those are seen or unseen to me. I even search myself in the characters of the surrounding people. You could say that this is one of my characteristics. While playing my role in ‘Nadi Kabya’, I found the character is pretty unique and challenging to portray in a proper manner. I have played the role of a fisherwoman for the first time.”
“Razina, the character I am playing in the short film, earns her bread by fishing in the river. While combating the evil power of the society, she is involved in the fight on the boat in the middle of the river in the storm”, Chhoby kept on to say.
“Another unique experience I have gathered during the shooting of this short film that I had to take part in the shooting with an infant, who is only 35-day old. I did all the activities such as rowing boat, fishing and fighting in the river holding the baby on my lap. Ensuring the protection of the baby, as well as myself, I had to take part in the shooting to make it credible to all. Overall, it was very challenging and at the same time, very experimental to play a role like this. Now, all my hard work will be successful if the viewers like the short film.”
Through the story of the short film, the struggling life of just-widowed Razina, a woman from a fishermen village on the bank of the river Jamuna, has been portrayed. The tale of a woman’s fight against all odds of the society, love and slander in her life is the main concept of this short film.
‘Nadi Kabya’, which received a grant from the Information Ministry, is directed by Mohammad Hossain Jemmy, while 26 students from the Information Institute of Mass Communication are assisting the director.
Among others, Aman Reza, Rehena Jolly and Amir Siraj are playing different roles in the short film.
