13 students of Barisal Polytechnic Institute, held over charge of abduction, were sent to Barisal central jail yesterday morning as the CMM court rejected their bail prayers.
Three cases including abduction would be lodged in this connection.
Barisal Metropolitan Police rescued an abducted student from Barisal Polytechnic Institute hostel and detained 26 including a BCL leader from the spot on Wednesday afternoon.
The rescued Deep Kumar Pal, son of Keshob Chandra Pal from Ghunabari under Kalihati upazila of Tangail district and was a student of fourth semester (electric department) of Barisal Polytechnic Institute. The leader of the abductor gang was his classmate Asaduzzaman Fahim, a BCL leader of the convening committee of the institute unit.
Asaduzzaman, assistant commissioner of BMP, said during operation cohorts of the abductors attacked police with brickbats. A constable was injured during the atatck. Police from the spot also seized sharp weapons, knife, scotch tape, electrical wire, plus used in torturing the hostage.
Police first detained 26 from the campus but after interrogation released 13 and arrested 13 after filing the case.
