Four people were killed in road accidents in Tangail and Comilla districts yesterday.
Our Tangail correspondent reports: A couple was killed and their son injured in a road accident at Mohalpara on Tangail-Mymensingh Highway in Ghatail upazila yesterday morning.
Police said Sultan Mahmud Khan, 38, along with his wife Rowshan Ara Begum, 28, and son Rabbi, 3, was heading to Kalihati from Gopalpur riding on his motorcycle.
The accident took place when they reached Mohalpara as a speedy truck, coming from the opposite direction, knocked down the motorbike around 8:30 am, leaving Sultan dead on the spot and Rowshan and Rabbi injured.
Later, Rowshan succumbed to her injuries on her way to hospital, officer-in-charge of Ghatail Police Station M Mahiuddin said, adding Rabbi was undergoing treatment at Tangail General Hospital.
In Comilla, two pedestrians were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Dharanipara on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Chandina upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Police said the accident took place when a covered van skidded off the road and knocked down three pedestrians around 6:30 am, leaving Akbar Hossain, 80, and Kabir Hossain, 50, residents of Dharanipara, dead on the spot and another pedestrian and the helper of the vehicle injured.
