NSU celebrates silver jubilee
North South University (NSU) organised a 3-day programme titled ‘Celebrating Excellence in Higher Education’ to celebrate its silver jubilee from Monday, says a press release.
The first session of the opening ceremony began with a rally, a human formation of the national flag and the NSU silver jubilee celebration logo followed by the launch of NSU theme song, performed by Bappa Majumder and a number of NSU students, and a cultural programme performed by Confucius Institute on the NSU campus.
The second session started with a discussion where Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was the chief guest while prime minister's International Affairs Adviser Prof Gowher Rizvi was the guest of honour. NSU Board of Trustees Chairman Azim Uddin Ahmed and Vice-Chancellor Atiqul Islam also spoke.
Various programmes, club activities and alumni events were held on Tuesday. In the third session, Alumni get together was held where seventeen of the distinguished Alumni were awarded. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Nasrul Hamid was the Chief Guest.
Seminar on investment in professionalism held at East West University
The Department of Business Administration of East West University (EWU) jointly organised a seminar with the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) on Monday at SM Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery.
The title of the seminar was ‘Smart Investment in Professionalism: Prospects for Business Graduates’, says a press release.
Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank, was the chief guest. Prof MM Shahidul Hassan, vice-chancellor, EWU, was the special guest of the programme. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury FCMA, President, ICMAB and Mohammed Salim FCMA, Vice President, ICMAB were present as guests of honour on the seminar. Prof Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, EWU, presided over the seminar as programme chair.
Speakers discussed the important issues of investment in professionalism. They also expressed their positive views about investment in professionalism that is essential for career building in higher level position. The graduate students who are the participants of the seminar were learned a lot about the professional education that might ensure their bright future career.
SUB 24th syndicate meeting held
CHITTAGONG: The 24th syndicate meeting of Southern University of Bangladesh (SUB) held at conference room of the university in Chittagong on Monday.
Prof Md Narul Mustafa, vice-chancellor of the university and also president of university syndicate, presided over the meeting while syndicate members- Southern University Trust Chairman and industrialist Khalilur Rahman, Treasurer Sarwar Jahan, pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Engineer Ali Ashraf, Vice Chairman of Southern University Trust Md Liaquat Ali Chowdhury, Prof Kazi Mostain Billah nominated member by the Ministry of Education, Prof Monir Uddin, UGC nominated member, Registrar Mantajul Islam Chowdhury, IQAC Director Prof AJM Nuruddin Chowdhury, Dean of Business Administration department Prof ANM Abdul Muttadir, Head of Department of Pharmacy Prof Mohiuddin Chowdhury and Head of Business Administration Israt Jahan were present at the meeting, among others.
NU 1st year honours results published
The results of first year honors examinations-2016 under National University (NU) were published today with 92.98 percent pass rate.
The published results are available on the university websites - www.nu.edu.bd and www.nubd.info, said a NU press release here.
The students could also know their results sending SMS to 16222 from any telecom operator following the format nu<>h1<>registration no.
A total of 2,47,850 students from 687 colleges across the country appeared in the examination under the university while 2,30,450 of them have come out successful, the release added.
