Issuing a note of warning, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque yesterday said action will be taken if any allegation of extortion is found against any police officer during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, reports UNB. He also directed the senior police officers to perform their duties professionally and sincerely so that people can pass the holy month and celebrate eid peacefully. “Stern action will be taken if any allegation of extortion is found against any police officer,” the IGP said while addressing a meeting on the security for Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr and traffic management at the Police Headquarters.
Shahidul asked his subordinates to stop the plying of banned human-haulers like Nosimon, Korimon, Bhatbhati and Easybike on highways to ensure smooth movement of traffic and prevent accidents. He also directed them not to search any vehicle on highways without any specific information for the sake of better traffic management. Senior officials of the Police Headquarters, heads of all police units, senior officials of various intelligence agencies and other officials concerned were present at the meeting.
